That being said, I will never suggest supplies that I do not personally use and fully recommend.

Let’s be real: we’ve all had those moments where we want to send a heartfelt thank you card… but we don’t have a ton of time, supplies, or (let’s be honest) creative energy to make something super elaborate.

Good news—you don’t need a craft room full of tools to make something beautiful. In this post, I’ll show you how to make a super simple and cute thank you card using just a few basic supplies you probably already have. No perfection required. No stress. Just a quick, artsy little project that looks way fancier than it is.

Let’s jump in!

Let’s Get Started!

Seriously so simple. Markers. Pens. And watercolour paper.

Step #1: Draw Some Super Simple Flowers

Grab one of your brush pens and start doodling. These aren’t fancy florals—just the kind you used to draw as a kid. Five or six rounded petals, random placements, no stress.

Pro tip: draw some flowers right off the edge of the card. It makes the layout feel more natural and “full.”

Step #2: Add Some Leaf Shapes

With your second brush pen, fill in the empty spaces with some leafy shapes. Think of them as the building blocks for a vine—you’ll connect them later.

Don’t worry about precision. Just scatter them around in a way that looks balanced.

Step #3: Scribble Some Outlines (On Purpose!)

Now for the fun part: grab your Micron 05 and outline everything… messily. Yes, you read that right—messy is the goal here.

Scribble over your flowers and leaves, intentionally leaving white space between your marker lines and the pen. It gives everything a loose, sketchy, artsy vibe.

For the leaves, go ahead and add a center line to each one (that’s your stem), then connect them together to form a vine. Again, messy is totally okay.

Step #4: Add a Few Lighter Florals (Optional)

If your card still feels a bit bare, grab a lighter-colored marker and add a few more mini flowers here and there. Then go over them with the same loose, scribbly outlines.

This extra layer adds more depth and makes the card feel more finished.

Step #5: Decide Where to Add Your Lettering

Take a quick look at your layout and pick the spot with the most “open” space—that’s your writing zone. If it feels too crowded to add any lettering on the front, no worries! You can always save your message for the inside.

Once you’ve picked your spot, grab your Micron 03 and write your message in any style you like. I went with a simple calligraphy-style script, but you can totally go with block letters, print, or even bubble letters if that’s your jam.

I also added a bonus design after I finished this one to give you some more inspiration!

That’s a Wrap!

Seriously—this project takes just a few minutes, and you can switch up the colors and design to match any vibe (as shown above). Here’s an example of the same technique in totally different colors to inspire you.

And finally, your dad joke…

What did the digital clock say to the grandfather clock?
Look, no hands!
